There’s a saying around our office: Another year, another Pasadena Showcase House. And this year, it’s true in a big way!
Samantha Williams Interior Design is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a Designer for the 2019 Pasadena Showcase House! In addition to being selected for the beautiful Dining Room, guess what? We’re also doing THE KITCHEN! Could we be more excited? Probably not! The office has been a beehive of activity as we work on our presentations and pull together our design concepts. We look forward to partnering with our friends at Reliable Cabinets to make the vision a reality.
This year, The Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA) is heading back to Descanso Gardens to renovate the Boddy House. Last done as a Showcase in 2007, this beautiful home is in great shape and ready for its 2019 facelift. PSHA is the longest running showcase house in the United States and also one of the most attended with approximately 30,000 visitors annually.
This will be my fifth year as a designer for PSHA and last year I served as the Designer Advisor. Under my former firm, Ederra Design Studio, I’ve designed rooms such as the Master Suite, Loggia, and Nanny’s Room and this will be my second stab at the Kitchen! The last time I worked on the kitchen was for the 2015 Showcase house near the Langham. It continues to be one of my favorite projects so I can’t wait to take on the kitchen this year under my new, rebranded firm.
Make sure you follow our Instagram for stories and photos of the transformation. In typical fashion, I uttered my “oh, this should be easy” line. Every showcase I’ve ever done comes with a surprise or a hiccup or two and I’m sure this will be no different. And for a designer who loves the decorating and finishes side of things as much as the construction end of the business, what a treat to get to do both via the kitchen and dining room!
Not only is being a Pasadena Showcase designer a pretty cool experience, but PSHA has been doing great work in the community that makes participating even more rewarding. In their 55 year history, PSHA has done extraordinary work to support the arts in our community through gifts and grants. This includes helping aspiring young musicians receive the education and support they deserve otherwise might not have access to – and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
So follow along and mark your calendars for April 21st through May 19th. There is a talented crop of designers this year and I can’t wait to see you there!

Hi Samantha,
I wish you the best working on the kitchen at the Body house. I did the original design in 2007 and I had a wonderful experience working on it.
Have fun!
